Beautiful Savannah, Georgia was the site of the 43rd annual conference of the American Art Therapy Association (July 9-12, 2012) and though the weather was unbelievably hot and humid, folks didn’t let the extreme conditions slow them down. Our stand was busy throughout the conference with attendees stopping by to browse our selection of new and recent books, including Art Therapy and Postmodernism and Using Textile Arts and Handcrafts in Therapy with Women.
We were thrilled to greet several of our authors who stopped by the exhibit hall. Cathy Moon, author of the perennial classic Studio Art Therapy, paid us a visit, as did Lani Gerrity, author of Creativity and the Dissociative Patient. Flying in all the way from Hong Kong was Jordan Potash, co-editor of the brand new book, Art Therapy in Asia. Workshop presenter Noah Hass Cohen dropped by and signed copies of her book, Art Therapy and Clinical Neuroscience.
The field of art therapy is percolating with new ideas and JKP acquisitions editor, Lisa Clark, was kept extremely busy fielding questions from potential new authors. We try hard to stay on the cutting edge of the field, so if you have an idea for a unique and innovative book on art therapy, please feel free to contact Lisa with your idea.
During the conference we encouraged attendees to drop their business card into our mug for a chance at a free copy of the newly released title, Reflections of Body Image in Art Therapy. We are happy to announce that Nicole Cyr of Wethersfield, Connecticut was the winner of this book. Congratulations, Nicole!
