For over 35 years, JKP has been at the forefront of amplifying marginalised voices and sharing incredibly important stories to help support and empower others. We are now very excited to announce the launch of a new Physical Disabilities list to help connect with and uplift disabled voices and communities across our publishing.

We hope to provide a much-needed platform for people to share their stories and experiences, but also to promote greater awareness and understanding of physical disabilities that will help push for change and accessibility in all areas of life. We are looking forward to creating a more inclusive and diverse literary landscape and urge anyone with an idea to get in contact.

We are searching for physically disabled authors, whether new or established, to share stories, raise awareness, offer lived-experience advice and empower others. We would also like to hear about the books and resources your community needs the most and what topics should spearhead our new list.

We are interested in your lived experiences, including school or work environments, sex and relationships, mental health, how to navigate the world as a disabled person, self-advocacy, ableism and much more.

We’d love to hear from you if you have any feedback or ideas for the books we should be publishing in this area. If you are interested in becoming a JKP author yourself, you can get in touch with us to find out more about the publishing process and discuss ideas. Please contact Abbie.Howard@jkp.com if you wish to enquire about submitting a proposal or have any further ideas on what we should be publishing and why.

*We are aware that language is always changing. We are always learning, so if any of the language used throughout this blog doesn’t feel right for you or your community, please do get in touch and let us know.
